10.3Slack

Slack alerts use an incoming webhook URL. This is a link Slack gives you that posts messages into one Slack channel.

  1. In Slack, open your Slack app and go to Incoming Webhooks. Add a webhook for the Slack channel that should get alerts.
  2. Copy the webhook URL. It looks like https://hooks.slack.com/services/....
  3. In obsrvly, in New alert channel, choose Slack.
  4. Enter a Name and paste the URL into Slack incoming webhook URL.
  5. Select Create channel, then send a test alert (10.9).

A Slack alert shows the monitor name, such as "Down: checkout" or "Degraded: checkout". It also lists the target, the reason (when known), the number of failures in a row and the location. A resolved alert shows the target and how long it was down.

API: CreateSlackChannel with name and slackWebhookUrl.
