14.2Invite and remove members

A member is a person who belongs to a team. You manage members in the team window. Usually a team owner does this. If you cannot invite or remove people, ask an owner.

Invite someone#

  1. Select billing, then team. The team window opens.
  2. Go to the members list and choose to invite.
  3. Enter the person's email address and pick their role (14.3).
  4. Send the invitation.

The person gets an email. The link in it opens obsrvly's sign-up page with the invitation attached. After they sign up or sign in, they join the team and land on the dashboard.

When someone joins, the audit log (14.5) shows "added member" with their email, and their role (owner or member).

Remove someone#

  1. Select billing, then team.
  2. In the members list, find the person and remove them from the team.

Their access to this team ends. They stop getting the team's weekly report. Monitors and settings they created stay with the team. The audit log shows "removed member" with their email.

A member can also leave a team from the team window. This is shown in the audit log in the same way.

After someone leaves: check keys, channels and secrets#

  • Removing a member does not change alert channels. If an email channel sends to that person's address, edit or delete it under alerting → channels (10.10).
  • If the person knew secret values, replace those secrets (8.5, 8.6).
